App Attack! Make Your 1st Game App

Dates

July 28-August 1. 1:00-4:00

Explore the App universe and create your own mobile application or mobile game! Students will explore the world of phone-based and tablet applications. In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and games, you will also see firsthand how the world of App’s publishing functions. No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smart phone or tablet to take the class.

A Delicious Rainbow

You are what you eat… so why not be as colorful as you can be? Everyone loves color, so let’s bring more of it into our diets. Learn about fresh produce of a different color, try samples and explore how food help us grow up healthfully. Activities are designed to stimulate the imagination and develop creative ways of bringing more healthy unprocessed foods into our diet. (Taste testing will be included)

NEW! MAC Grows Young Gardeners

July 28-August 1. 9:30-11:30

Learn about local seasonal vegetables, herbs, and fruits including where things grow, how things grow and how we can enjoy them. Explore the joy and wonder of planning, planting, and taking care of a small garden through fun, age-appropriate hands on activities. Activities vary daily: arts and crafts, gardening, problem solving, taste testing, “uncooking” simple recipes. Water, a hat and light gardening gloves are recommended for this very special week

NJSYO Intro to Orchestra for Strings

July 28-August 1. 9:30-12:00

Under the direction of New Jersey State Youth Orchestra conductor Katie Gussman, your child will learn to play
music in groups, follow a conductor’s lead, and understand concert etiquette (both while playing and while listening to others play). The week will end with a short performance for parents. Students must (1) supply their own instruments and (2) have finished at least 1 year of instruction while completing Book 1 of a method series.

Youth Drama Program with Tara Mahoney and Erin Stripto

July 2-October 8 (Wednesdays only). 4:00-5:30

This professional theatre training program is open to all beginning, intermediate, and advanced aspiring young performers, ages 7 and up. Students will engage in theatrical curricular studies focusing on creating a character, stage presence, script analysis, dance and performance skills, while learning techniques of auditioning for stage performance. The youth drama program will meet once a week for 15 weeks and culminates with a Fall Festival performance of the Children’s Theatre production.

Make Your First 3-D Video Game with Black Rocket!

By popular demand, we are offering a 3-D game design class. This experience allows you to develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of the traditional classes. Students will learn the physics behind 3D Game Design and explore event scripting, level design, controlling flow of game play, and story telling. Designed for young adults who have the desire to focus in Game Design in high school or college.

Make realistic cupcakes, cookies and slices of birthday cake.

Pixie Dust Fairy Week

Sprinkle on your fairy dust and fly to the dance room for a week of pixie magic in which anything can happen!

Make a Doll Workshop

Dates

August 4, 11, 18, 25 (Mondays only). 12:30-3:30

Explore the joys of sewing by hand. Create your own individualized
cherished doll keepsake. Outfit your creation with a jumper, skirt, fashion accessories and a toy which you create using a pattern and simple hand sewing techniques. Enhance your creation with a variety of frills and embellishments. All supplies included and all levels welcome. Creature Camp: Prehistoric, Modern, Magical and Mythical

We will work on different surfaces and also with air dry clay in 3-
D. Discover how dragons got their fiery reputation, create your
own Creature Mittens, and learn some special art tricks that will
help you draw anything you can imagine! Campers will learn about
the magic and myth of different creatures and create their very own
mythical masterpieces to bring home!

Garden Delights and Buggy Nights

A magical art adventure exploring the garden. Glow-in-the-dark
fire flies, colorful patterned frogs, and iridescent fairy wings are just the beginning.

Shimmering Watercolors

Using high-quality materials such as shimmer watercolor, students
will sketch and paint beautiful watercolor scenes.

One Direction Music Camp

August 11-15. 8:30-11:30

This fun camp will encourage aspiring performers to sing, dance and harmonize enthusiastically to one amazing band and more!! Kids explore a variety of favorite music groups and pop stars including One Direction, Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepson, Maroon Five and more! Campers make a daily craft. A mini performance ends this Rockin’ week of Camp.

Unlike any other Black Rocket game design course, students in this program will make special top-down adventure games like Pokemon or Zelda to compete with their friends.
