About Arts Council
Recognizing the need for an increase in arts programming in this large community, the Middletown Township Committee established a 30-member Arts Advisory Committee in April of 2001.
The focus of the group was to promote the arts throughout the community and to advise the architect, William Miller, on plans for the Middletown Arts Center to be built at the site of a former Moving and Storage Warehouse. The township asked for input from people in various arts-related fields to ensure the resulting facility will be flexible enough to accommodate programming of all kinds.
In 2002, the Arts Advisory Committee evolved into a non-profit, tax-exempt group called the Middletown Township Cultural and Arts Council, Inc. The Arts Council (MTCAC) includes a Board of Trustees, most of whom were members of the Advisory Committee. The MTCAC is dedicated to bringing quality arts programming to Middletown and is responsible for introducing new and innovative programs and events.
