Grades 6-8
Instructor: Christie Swanson
Interested in fashion and learning how to sew? Learn to Sew is the perfect class for you to learn the basics of what goes into creating your own clothes! Under the skilled instruction of experienced graphic and textile designer, Christie Swanson, in six short weeks you’ll make your own lined drawstring bag, a zippered pouch, and pajama pants! This class will cover fundamental skills such as getting comfortable sewing on a machine, hand sewing techniques, inserting a zipper, and more. We will dive into how to choose the right fabric for projects, how to read a sewing pattern, and how to do basic fit alterations. This class will help you build the confidence to master the essentials of sewing.
*Please bring your own sewing machine (we may have some loaners). Please also come to class knowing how to turn on, thread your machine, and wind the bobbin (we can help a little there too!)
