Our popular music showcase is back this Fall with a terrific lineup of local singer-songwriters: Tom Flynn, Jim Crawford, Stu Coogan and Vito Natale. The concert will take place in the MAC Theater.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Tom Flynn writes songs with meticulously crafted lyrics which blend Rock, Pop and Folk. Tom’s music has been compared to Jackson Browne, REM, The Cars, Bob Dylan and The Moody Blues. His single, “Automatic People”, has been played on over 60 college radio stations. Travels, Tom’s debut album, was released last year and is currently licensed to several TV networks include Nascar, The Discovery Network and The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Jim Crawford was born in Glasgow, Scotland. At the age of seven, he emigrated to Canada and then five years later to Kearny, NJ, where he finished school before joining the U.S. Army in 1964. Jim started playing for friends in an Irish Bar in Kearny called The Tyrone House which led to gigs in other local pubs in Northern New Jersey. He had a good following for several years before he settled into work and his marriage. After retiring as a union electrician, Jim returned to his music and began writing songs that were based on his life experiences. This resulted in two CDs titled Team of my Father and Yelling At Me that were well received by the local music community. Jim has performed solo and with groups at Albert Music Hall in Waretown, BOTMA in Little Silver, The Cafe Improv in Princeton, The Cafe Artiste in Neptune and numerous coffee houses in the Monmouth area.

Stu Coogan (Evening Host on 90.5 the Night, Brookdale Public Radio from 7-11 pm) is now a 10-year veteran of the radio airwaves. After 22 years on the business side of the communications industry, he gives hope to all those who make the move to change careers in midstream. “Stu Coo” used buyout money from his prior employment to attend Brookdale Community College which provided a path to his true love, “Radioland” !

“I’m pretty much self taught guitar player who loves good music of all genres… with a special warm place for the blues… hope the folks will enjoy renditions of some things swirllin’ in my skull…”
