Our History

The property on which Middletown Arts Center sits was purchased by Middletown Township in 1998 and included the old Banfield Moving and Storage Company. The need for arts programming in the township was identified and the Banfield site was particularly attractive because of its proximity to the train station and centralized location within Middletown’s 42-square-mile community. In response to resident feedback, the decision was made to convert the dilapidated commercial space into a flexible recreation space suitable for a wide range of artistic and cultural activities. the Middletown Arts Center opened its doors to the public in March, 2007.
